For the second year in a row, the Huntingdon Mustangs will host Memphis Mitchell at Paul Ward stadium this Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the first round of the TSSAA Class 2-A playoffs. The Tigers out of Region 8-2A finished the season with a 6-4 record and the number three seed from that region. The Mustangs from Region 7-2A, finished the season with an 8-2 record and the number two seed from that region. The winner of Huntingdon-Mitchell will face the winner of Camden 4-6 and the fourth seed in Region 7-2A and Memphis Fairley 9-0, the one-seed from Region 8-2A. That game will be played in Memphis on Friday.
The other side of the bracket will see KIPP-Memphis 4-4 and the four seed from Region 8-2A will travel to Martin and face the one-seed from Region 7-2A the Martin Westview Chargers 8-2. Union City 8-2 and the three seed from Region 7-2A will travel to Memphis on Friday to face the one seed from Region 8-2A, Memphis Fairley 9-0 for the season. The winner of these two games will play at the site of the higher seed next Friday.
