Aggravated Assault/Domestic Assault
Officer Trenton Ruddy received a dispatch regarding a 911 call from a David Street residence early Sunday morning, August 7 where a man walked in and found another man in his house. According to Ruddy’s report, he and Sgt. Trey Boucher spoke with Kenneth Schultz, who informed the officers that he walked into the bedroom to speak with his wife, Rhonda Schultz, when he noticed the man. Schultz stated he yelled at the man to leave when he got up and pushed him. Mrs. Schultz pointed a black handgun at Mr. Schultz and told him to leave the room. He left his residence and called 911.
Ruddy interviewed Mrs. Schultz, who claimed that her husband walked in and began hitting her and the man. She admitted pointing the gun at her husband. After further questioning, it was learned the gun belonged to the man who left the premises.
Rhonda Schultz was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Domestic Assault and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Multiple Charges
A Memphis man was arrested and charged with multiple charges on Friday, August 5 after Bethel University Security requested assistance from the McKenzie Police Department. Officer Darren Davis responded to Prosser Hall where the resident director advised he smelled an odor of marijuana coming from Jeremy A. Boyland Jr’s dorm room. A search of the room revealed Boyland to be in possession of a loaded Black Taurus G2C semi-automatic handgun along with 21.9 grams of marijuana in two separate bags, a set of digital scales, and $600 in cash.
Boyland , 19, was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule VI Drug with Intent, Possession of a Weapon on School Property, and cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to Carroll County Jail.
Criminal Trespass/Vandalism
On Thursday morning, August 4, Officer Trenton Ruddy was called to the Splash Pad where Dossie Lynn Wright, 41, of McKenzie was found asleep in the bathroom. Wright had damaged the door handle and used his belt to prevent anyone from being able to open the door. Wright was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass and Vandalism.
Domestic Assault
McKenzie Police responded to a call on Wednesday afternoon, August 3, about a male was assaulting a female. According to the report filed by Dalton Raspberry, he and two other officers responded to a Walnut Circle residence. One officer went to the Housing Authority Office to speak to the victim. She was found to have marks on her arms and wrote a statement that Michael Lynn Bynum, 43, of Gleason hit her multiple times on the arms. Dispatch alerted officers that Bynum had a previous Domestic Assault charge along with active warrants in Weakley County for Theft and Failure to Appear. He was arrested and transported to Carroll County Jail.
Domestic Assault
Officer Tanner Jackson responded to a domestic altercation call on Paris Avenue, Wednesday afternoon, August 3. Jackson made contact with the caller, Angel Villanueva, who advised that she and her mother, Michal Jones, got into a verbal argument that turned physical. Villanueva stated that Jones grabbed her by the jaw and pushed her face backwards. They both began swinging at each other when she went outside and contacted the police department.
Further investigation revealed that Villanueva had several scratches on her neck and a bruise. She filled out a sworn statement. Jones was found to have a small cut on her head and admitted to pushing her daughter first. Jones was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault with Officer Jackson transporting her to Carroll County Jail.
Simple Possession or Casual Exchange
Early Wednesday morning, July 29, while on patrol, Officer Trenton Ruddy observed a white male identified as Lloyd Sawyer, 57, of McKenzie, sitting on the ground at Mulberry Park. Ruddy advised Sawyer that the park was closed and he was trespassing. Ruddy asked permission to search Sawyer’s backpack. Sawyer gave him the backpack and advised Ruddy that he was in possession of a needle containing Meth. The needle was located along with two small bags that appeared to have Meth residue. Sawyers was cited for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Simple Possession of Schedule II Drugs.
