Scaled down Carroll County Fair starts Monday

The Carroll County Fair that runs from Sept. 20 – 25  has been scaled down due to COVID concerns, according to Linda Martin who assists Fair President Laura Keeton in coordinating the event. Martin directly serves as supervisor of the Domestic Arts Department and secretary of the fair.

“It gets underway on Monday, Sept. 20 at the Carroll County Civic Center with a Carroll County Jr. Livestock Show,” she said. “Come and support the youth in their endeavors.”

However, this year there will be no beauty revues and no Senior Citizens Day.

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will be the only organization offering those delicious fair hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and soft drinks as well as maybe some other surprise menu items during the week. However, they will not open their booth until Tuesday. The hours are Tuesday – Friday from 11:15 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. and  5:15 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. On Friday and Saturday there will only be evening and night hours that are from  5:15 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.

There will be concessions on the midway such as cotton candy, corn dogs, fiddle sticks and other great things to eat.

There is no admission on Monday for the Carroll County Junior Livestock Show that begins at 6 p.m.with the judging.There is no carnival and no circus that night.

Admission each night covers everything, but food and games. Gates open at 5 p.m.

On Tuesday and Wednesday it’s $10 for everything including the carnival/Torres Family Circus/petting zoo and Monster Truck rides. On Thursday $5 covers everything including the carnival, Torres Family Circus/Petting Zoo and singer – songwriter Randy Rutherford. On Friday, $15 will include everything including the carnival/Torres Family Circus/Petting Zoo along with special attraction Double Edge band. On Saturday at 1:30 p.m. is the dog show. Registration begins at 12:30 p .m. Admission is $5.

On Saturday night the admission charge is $15 that includes everything with the  USA Pullers tractor pull as a special attraction.

On Sunday, exhibits will be entered from 2 – 5 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The exhibit building hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5 – 10 p.m., also on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Exhibits are to be picked up between 2 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26.

There will be exhibits for poultry, Youth I, II and III Departments, Field Crops and Horticulture, and Domestic Arts. In the photography category of  Domestic Arts, no Photographs with recognizable faces will be accepted.
