December board meeting cancelled

According to West Carroll Director of Schools Preston Caldwell, the Dec. 2 regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting has been cancelled due to a lack of business.

The next meeting should be on the first Thursday in January of 2022.

During the Nov. 4 board meeting:

•A $56,639 bid from Hotel & Restaurant Supply of Memphis was approved for the purchase of a new dishwashing machine for the junior-senior high school cafeteria.

•Caldwell advised the board that as of that morning, there were three students testing positive for COVID-19 and about 20 in quarantine. Caldwell recommended that the school district remain in Phase 3 regarding its COVID response status.

•School district attorney Chris Hayden advised the board on conflicting state and federal mandates regarding vaccine requirements for employees and how this may impact the school district.

•First reading approval was given to a board policy amendment establishing that, in order to address the board, members of the community must submit a request four days in advance before regular board meetings and one day before a special called meeting.
