Terry “Stump” Rich

Terry “Stump” Wright Rich, 72, of Huntingdon, passed away from a short battle of cancer on Monday, May 31, at his home, with his family gathered around him. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 4, in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Clint Ezell officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Rich was born June 21, 1948 in Milan, to the late Glendon Ray Rich and Nell Marie (Smith) Rich. He retired from DuPont as Senior Oxidation Operator and attended Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was an avid whittler, horseman and outdoorsman and was very involved in the Rich Family Relay for Life. He loved baseball in general, however, was a big Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals fan. You would often see Terry sitting out back whittling by his campfire. He gave friends and family shavings and carvings as gifts. He and his brother, Glendon, made and gave away over 400 walking sticks that they call “Twisty Sticks”. Terry found the most joy in giving and putting a smile on other’s faces.
Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death two brothers, Neal Rich, and Glendon Rich, and two infant siblings, Wayne and Beverly.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Rich; one daughter, Rita (Chris) Hayes; one son, Nick Rich; three sisters; Virginia Ruth DePriest, Janet (Max) Bybee, and Nelda (Johnny) Hawkins, all of Huntingdon; two brothers; Billy Mac (Vickie) Rich, of Huntingdon; and Gordy Rich of McKenzie.
Pallbearers who served were Bill Brown, Gene Mash, Philip Barnett, Phillip DePriest, Mark Rich, Jeff Barnett, and Brady Rich.
