Huntingdon High School students rolled up their sleeves Friday to help save lives.
The Student Council’s annual spring blood drive exceeded expectations, with donors stepping up to contribute 40 units—enough to impact up to 120 people.
Student Council President Cayden Brewer expressed excitement over the turnout, which surpassed projections.
“We were projected to collect 30 units, but we ended up beating our record with 46 donors,” Brewer said. “It’s really great to see so many students step up.”
The timing of the drive was impeccable, as LIFELINE Blood Services had issued a critical appeal earlier in the week due to supply shortages.
The student-led effort was met with enthusiasm.
Students who donate three times during high school receive special recognition at graduation, which further encourages participation.
On Monday, LIFELINE also visited Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central, and on March 20, blood drives will take place at West Carroll Primary, McKenzie Elementary School, and Clarksburg School.
