HHS celebrates homecoming with pep rally

Warman, Butler named Mr. & Miss HHS

Though the usual homecoming parade and pep rally on the square were cancelled this year due to COVID-19, students and staff at Huntingdon High School did celebrate Friday morning with a big pep rally Paul Ward Stadium after a week of homecoming activities and competitions.

Seniors Carson Warman and Brooke Butler were named as this year’s Mr. and Miss HHS.

The 17-year-old son of Dana and Patrick Warman, Carson is a member of the cross country and track and field teams, as well as the FFA and Beta Club.

Brooke, who is the 17-year-old daughter of Clint and Gina Butler, is a member of the cross country team, Fillies basketball team, AB Club, Beta Club, and FCS.

Other candidates for Mr. and Miss HHS included Grant Bartholomew, Carter Cary, Christian Myles, and Jake Stokes for the boys; and Ellia Lewis, Addison Postlethwait, Leigha Sanders, and Kaitlyn Wyatt for the girls.

The Junior Class of 2022 claimed the title as overall winner of this year’s homecoming competitions.

Juniors won the tug-of-war contest, followed by the freshman class in second place, seniors in third place, and sophomores at fourth.

The seniors took first in the spirit contest by making the most noise.

Sophomore Elijah Flowers won the frozen T-shirt contest, a first-year event involving T-shirts that had been soaked in water, folded, and frozen hard as brick bats. Elijah managed to get his T-shirt unfolded and donned before the other three competitors.

The pep rally also featured a senior walk, cheers by the cheerleading squad, and music by the HHS Marching Band.

There were no homecoming floats this year.
