Espey's art exhibit draws large crowd

A large crowd gathered upstairs in the The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center for Paige Fisher Espey’s “Color Out of Tragedy” art exhibit reception on Feb. 20. It will be on view through April 25.

She was introduced by Laura DeVille, The Dixie’s Gallery director.

Paige talked about the exhibit that was displayed about the room and how she came to paint rainbows.

She lives in Huntingdon with her husband, Will Espey, and they are expecting their first child in July.

The artist uses rainbow imagery in her painting that relate to the loss of her brother. She uses acrylic paints, oil pastels, ink pen, watercolors, and soft pastels layered on top of acrylic adhesive to create abstract images that trigger positive emotions.

The inspiration for her painting were rainbows that appeared during her brother’s funeral and burial.

She says the intention behind her work is to influence the way people view grief and to encourage positive action after loss.

Gallery hours are weekdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. when her art exhibit can be viewed.
