Mr. Dean Heath,
77, of Huntingdon, passed away Thursday,
Dec. 12, at his home.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on
Tuesday, Dec. 17, in
the Chapel of Dilday-Carter Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Carroll
Memorial Gardens. Dr. Walter Butler officiated.
Mr. Heath was born May 8, 1942 in Whidbey
Island, Wash. to the late
Leonard Dale Heath and Peggy Sterkel Heath. He
was preceded in death by
his sister Joan Miles and his son Leonard Dean
Heath, Jr.
A veteran of the Vietnam era, Dean served 24 1/2
years of honorable
active service. His service time took him
away from his family while on
deployments around the world including Vietnam, Beirut
and Lebanon,
while serving on board U. S. Naval vessels like
the USS Nashville and
several locations within the United
States. As a Drill Instructor from
1970-1973, he spent his time turning young men
into Marines. Dean
completed his service as a SgtMaj of the brig in
Camp Lejeune N.C.
As a volunteer fire fighter for over eight
years, he selflessly served
his community. During this time, he filled the
treasure, secretary and
vice-president positions.
As the Maintenance Director for Bethel
University from Dec. 1986 to
March 2008, Dean used his Marine Corp experience
to lead, train, and
organize, restructuring the entire department to
operate more
effectively and efficiently.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jane
Heath of Huntingdon, three daughters: Diana (Steve) Pitzen of Sun City, Ariz.,
Peggy (Jeff) Carter of Huntingdon, LeDeana
(Jason) Britz of
Meridian, Idaho; one son Leonard Dale (Angela)
Heath of Scottsdale,
Ariz.; and several grandchildren: Dacoyda Heath,
Dravyn Benson,
Preston Carter, Kennedy Carter, Landon Carter,
Jacey Britz, Jaylee
Britz, Brynlee Britz, Cannon Heath, and Elah
Heath.
