A McKenzie business, Dale’s Recycling, was damaged in a Friday night fire. However, the business that stores recyclable items, was not shut down and remains usable.
McKenzie Fire & Rescue was called to Dale’s Recycling at 399 Euclid Ave. at 6:50 p.m. where flames were visible in the aluminum type building, according to fire chief Brian Tucker.
“The high winds certainly didn’t help the situation,” said Tucker. “The Euclid Ave. structure is used for storage for Dale’s Recycling, that has its main office at the nearby Bell Store Rd. location.”
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Firemen stayed on the scene for five hours and returned twice before the flames were completely extinguished.
Twenty-two local firemen assisted with fighting the flames along with ten firemen from the Gleason Fire Department. Carroll County Fire Department also provided assistance.
Dale’s Recycling owner, Dale Nelson issued a statement Monday expressing his appreciation to the McKenzie, Gleason and Carroll County Fire Departments and the McKenzie Police Dept. for their hard work at the scene.
“Their quick response and hard work certainly helped to prevent this event from being much worse,” said Nelson.
