Carroll County Legislative Body

Posted

The Carroll County Legislative Body will be filling an empty commissioner position and a vacancy on the County Board of Education during the Nov. 9 meeting, which will be held at the Carroll County Civic Center, starting at 7 p.m.

Commissioners will be appointing someone to fill the vacancy left by former District 2 commissioner Bobby Argo, who recently resigned.

They will also be appointing a new school board member for the District 2 seat. That seat has been vacant since August as former District 2 school board member Tonya Stepp did not seek re-election in the Aug. 6 election and no-one else ran for that position.

For both vacancies, attending members of the public will be allowed to offer nominations, and commissioners will vote on those nominations.

Commissioners will also be voting on four resolutions on Nov. 9. These include:

•A resolution to transfer $350 from the fund balance account into the Veteran Services account to cover a new computer tower for the Veteran Services Office.

•A resolution to transfer $1,000 from a reserve account to the Register of Deeds Office to fund the cost of replacing a workstation computer and new credit card machines.

•A resolution to amend the 2020-21 General Purpose School Fund budget to account for $359,922 in additional federal funding through the state and $359,922 in unbudgeted expenditures for vocational instruction equipment.

•A resolution to use $420,300 in federal Coronavirus Relief Funds received through the state to go towards emergency communication equipment and payroll reimbursement for county employees substantially involved in COVID-19 mitigation.
