ALS bike ride raises $7,000

An ALS bike fundraiser in McKenzie Saturday raised approximately $7,000 for the ALS Association of Tennessee.
Jason Arnold had good reason to organize the fundraiser. His dad, Danny Arnold, is affected by the disease and watched riders from his wheelchair.
“I wanted to do something in honor of him,” said Jason, who serves as McKenzie’s assistant fire chief.
Approximately 100 riders participated that included adults and youths alike. It started at 8 a.m. and lasted until 11:30 a.m. at city hall. Riders rode mostly on University Drive.
ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a nervous system disease that weakens the muscles and impacts physical functions.
