Ronnie Rice 1940 – 2022

James Ronald “Ronnie” Rice, 82, of Huntingdon passed away Wednesday, August 17 at Baptist Hospital in Union City. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 19 in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Ted Gentle officiating. Burial followed at Carroll Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Rice was born February 20, 1940, in Jackson, Miss. to the late Casey Rice and Louise Lovett Rice Reed. He grew up in Huntingdon where he played Mustang Football wearing the #88 jersey with his brother the late Bill Rice.  He was the president of his 1958 graduating class and later attended Bethel University.  He was a

member of the Huntingdon Church of Christ and was a Mason.  He retired from the Milan Army Ammunition Plant in Milan where he worked as a photographer and printer.  He enjoyed working at Carroll County Motors and attending car auctions as a second career after retirement.  He loved to tinker with things, make lamps, and get a bargain.  He was also preceded in death by a brother; Bill Rice.

He is survived by his wife; Nancy, three children; Terry (Jennifer) Rice of South Carolina, Rhonda (Charles) Collins of Gleason, and Jennifer (John) Renfroe of Lexington.   He was also blessed with seven grandchildren; Dawson Hampton (Lexington), Brittney (Nick) Chappell (McKenzie), Spencer Collins (Gleason), Caycee Collins (Gleason), Dr. Scott Rice (Kentucky), Brett Rice, and Amanda McClain both of South Carolina and ten great grandchildren.
