Harold L. Russell II
1987-2022
Harold Lee Russell II, 35, of McKenzie passed away Tuesday, August 23. Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 28 at Long Heights Baptist Church McKenzie. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Dennis Trull officiating. Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. 

Joe R. Glisson

Joe R. Glisson
1940-2022

Joe R. Glisson, 81, of Huntingdon passed away Saturday August 27 at Baptist Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held on August 31 at Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed at Davis Chapel Cemetery with James Keen officiating.

Mr. Glisson was born September 3, 1940, to the late Neuland Glisson and Lorene Douglas Glisson. He was a retired Machinist for TVA, member of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church; preceded in death by one brother;
David Glisson.

He is survived by his wife; Sara Meggs Glisson, one daughter; Denise (Steve) Shelton of Springville, one son; Barry Joe Glisson of Huntingdon, two sisters; Rita (Bill) Bruce of Kingsland, Ga., and Judy Pearson of Dresden, two grandchildren; Emily (Rodd) Bawcum and Eric Shelton. 

Jimmy Simmons

Jimmy Simmons
1947-2022

Jimmy O’Dell Simmons, 75, of McLemoresville passed away Friday, August 26 at NHC Milan. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 2 at 2:00 PM at the New Reedy Creek Missionary Baptist Church in McLemoresville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and at the New Reedy Creek Missionary Church on Friday from 12 Noon until time of services. 

Mr. Simmons was born May 12, 1947, in McLemoresville to the late O’Dell and Anna B. Simmons. 

He is survived by his loving wife; Constance Simmons, two sons; James “Stevie” (Jennifer)

Simmons, Banthony Simmons. He also leaves four grandchildren; Porshea Simmons, Donavon

Simmons, Laquisha Simmons, and Reanna Simmons, two great grandchildren; two brothers, two

Sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Vel Gene Cary

Vel Gene Cary
1927-2022

Vel Gene Cary, 95 of Yuma passed away Saturday, August 27 at the AHC Rehabilitation Center in Paris. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 30 in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Robert Simmons officiating. Burial followed at the Jamison Cemetery. 

Mr. Cary was born February 4, 1927, in Camden to the late Frank Cary and Beulah (Hollowell) Cary. He was a retired Shipper for the Catepillar Company and a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Cary, one brother, Gladous Cary and one sister, Sue Ellen Gaskin. 

He is survived by his wife of 71 years; Sue Cary, two sons; Ricky Cary of Yuma, Kenneth Harris (Donna) of Washington, Ill., one daughter in law; Peggy Crawford of Westport and one sister; Mable Newbill (Giles) of Huntingdon. He also leaves three grandchildren; Amanda McCracken (Christopher Jordan), Greg Harris, Chad Harris (Zoe “Rocky”) and six great grandchildren

Pallbearers who served were Chad Harris, Greg Harris, James Carey, Blair Williams, (Big) Rick Cary, and Christopher Jordan. 

Clarice S. Leitgen
1937 – 2022

 Clarice S. Leitgen, 85, passed away peacefully on July 16th at a loving home in New Braunfels, TX. A visitation and viewing for Clarice was held on August 1 at Zoeller Funeral Home, in New Braunfels. A funeral mass was held on August 2 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in New Braunfels, followed by a reception at The Columbus Club Hall. Burial will be September 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Davis Chapel, HWY 22 S, Huntingdon. 

Clarice was born on February 4, 1937, in Huntingdon. She was preceded in death by her parents; John and Lolar Smothers, and brother; Dorian K. Smothers. 

Clarice is survived by her husband; Robert Leitgen, Sr., daughter; Jennifer Leitgen Pfannstiel and husband Jay, son; Robert Leitgen, Jr. and wife Katie, son; Christopher Leitgen and wife Jessica, and 6 grandchildren; Haley Pfannstiel, Brady Pfannstiel, Avery Leitgen, Lauryn Leitgen, McKenzie Leitgen, and Luke Leitgen.
