News From the McKenzie Farmers Market

We have an exciting day planned for our Farmers Market, Saturday, October 23rd.  You will want to be sure to come out for our “Here’s the Beef Festival” featuring our Youth Grilling Workshop and Adult Chili Cookoff, sponsored by our Carroll County 4-H and UT Extension Office. Be sure to register by calling or emailing Amanda Paschall at 731-986-1976, [email protected]. Prizes will be given to the winner of the Best Overall Chili and Most Creative and Unique Recipe. All children entering the Youth Grill Masters will receive prizes.

In addition to our Grill Masters and Chili Cookoff event, we will have antibiotic and chemical free beef for sale. There will be a special for the ground beef, $4.50 lb. This special will run through October 30th.  Other cuts of meat available are roasts, t-bones, rib eyes, and filet mignons.

Although our gardens are producing less, we still have a variety of lettuce, turnip greens, collards, tomatoes, okra and more. Baked goods including delicious breakfast rolls and breads, cookies, pickles, relishes jams and jellies are still available and make great gifts for the upcoming holidays.  We are also planning to have Marie’s hand-crafted baskets and other beautiful holiday crafts for sale.

The Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 noon and Tuesdays from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. through October 30th. After this date, vendors may set up outside any day, so you will want to check our Facebook page or drive by.
