Public Intoxication

•William Grant Lawton of Camden was charged with public intoxication on Feb. 13 in Huntingdon.

According to the report by Officer Aaron Patton, he responded to a call about a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at the intersection of West Main Street and Old Stage Road and a man and woman fighting outside the vehicle. Upon arrival, Patton found Lawton acting aggressively toward a female subject. Patton noted that Lawton smelled of an alcoholic beverage and his speech was slurred. Patton was taken into custody and transported to Carroll County Jail.

Drug Possession

•Carlos L. Milton of McKenzie was charged with possession of schedule II (methamphetamine) and possession of schedule VI (marijuana) on Feb. 11 in Huntingdon.

According to the report by Sgt. Brad Allen, he was called to the court square and spoke with a couple of deputies, who advised him that they had approached a vehicle to speak with Milton to inform him that he was needed in the courthouse, and they detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, officers found 1.4 grams of a substance that field-tested positive for meth and 2.6 grams of a substance believed to be marijuana.

Vehicle Theft

•Joseph D. Johnson of Huntingdon was recently charged with theft of a vehicle under $1,000.

According to the report by Sgt. Brad Allen, he went to a Clark Street address on Feb. 11 and spoke with a female resident, who said that Johnson had borrowed her car and would not bring it back. She later called the HPD and said that Johnson had actually brought the car back, but when she asked him to park it, he drove away. Allen was later advised that Johnson had returned the car on Feb. 12, but the officer had already filed a warrant in the case. Johnson made contact with Allen on Feb. 13, and Allen cited Johnson into General Sessions Court.

Leaving the Scene

•Michael Lynn Deloach of Nashville was charged with leaving the scene of an accident by Huntingdon Officer Labe Ezell, as well as other charges by the Bruceton Police Department, following a police pursuit and vehicle crash on Feb. 5.

According to Ezell’s report, Deloach was fleeing from authorities in a 2012 Ford Focus when his vehicle struck a 2006 Nissan Altima occupied by a woman and a small child on the court square in Huntingdon. After the crash, Deloach continued to flee from law enforcement until his vehicle was stopped by spike strips set out by deputies between Huntingdon and McLemoresville.

Drug Possession

•Ronald R. Reeves of Jackson was charged with possession of schedule II (crack cocaine) during a Feb. 13 traffic stop in Huntingdon.

Officer Ethan Parham reported that he pulled over a 2010 Grey Toyota Camry, in which Reeves was a passenger, after Parham observed the driver using a cell phone while driving. After getting the driver’s permission to search the vehicle, the officer found approximately 4.9 grams of crack cocaine in the passenger side floorboard where Reeves was sitting. The driver said the drugs did not belong to him, and Reeves reportedly said, “I’ll take the charge.” Parham noted that Reeves has an extensive history of drug-related arrests.
