Huntingdon Health and Rehab holding book drive for residents

After precautions for the COVID-19 pandemic have kept health care facilities on lockdown for months, local healthcare providers are getting creative in finding ways to provide safe entertainment for their residents.

Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center is looking to stock up on literature for its nearly 70 residents. To accomplish this, the facility has partnered with local businesses and civic organizations to solicit book donations from the community during the month of July.

Currently, the list of partnering entities includes the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, the Carroll County Library, Carroll Bank and Trust, First Baptist Church, Dollar Tree, Huntingdon Nutrition, and others. HHR is placing boxes at some of these partner locations and on the front porch of their facility for Carroll Countians to drop off books. Admissions Director Sarah Patel also said that HHR staff can come pick up books if someone who wishes to donate prefers not to get out.

Organizations and individuals who would like to participate in the book drive are asked to call Sarah Patel at 731-514-7374 or Activities Director Lori Houston at 731-986-8943.
