Carroll County SCD Tree Giveaway March 4th

The Carroll County Soil Conservation District (SCD) will be hosting their annual tree give-a-way for Carroll County landowners on Friday, March 4th, in honor of Arbor Day. The species of trees to be given away this year include (200) Persimmon, (300) Bald Cypress, (200) Native Sweet Pecan, (200) Hybrid Chestnut, (200) Shagbark Hickory, and (200) Red Mulberry. Trees will be given away beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the USDA Service Center, located at 630 High Street in Huntingdon.

 Enjoy Katie Trokey’s ‘Fresh Cut’ Exhibition at The Dixie

“Fresh Cut” is the latest art exhibit on display in the The Dixie’s Ballroom Gallery. St. Louis artist, Katie Trokey, brings her beautiful floral still life paintings to Huntingdon. The art will be on display from February 5 – April 27, 2022. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, February 12 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with the artist present to talk about her work. The reception will take place prior to the Tab Benoit concert in the Hal Holbrook Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Tickets to the concerts are on sale at The Dixie box office or online at DixiePAC.net.

 Baptist Carroll County offers HEART score screenings during American Heart Month

In observation of American Heart Month, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County will offer HEART score screenings every Friday during February from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the hospital, located at 631 R.B. Wilson Drive in Huntingdon. The screening is a painless, noninvasive CT scan of the heart that measures the amount of calcium in the coronary arteries.  The scan takes approximately 10 minutes and does not require needles or fasting.
