Carroll County Book Walks supported by mayors

The Carroll County Library, with the help of the Carroll County Health Department, has set up book walks throughout the county. What is a book walk? Along the walking tracks, bits of a story are placed. Read the story from beginning to end as you walk. Feel free to perform the actions along with the characters where possible and to discuss what you think may happen next. You are invited to “Imagine Your Story” as you travel through these book walks.

The goal is to encourage Carroll County residents to enjoy the fall weather on the wonderful walking tracks located throughout the county. Currently, book walks are set up at the walking track at Bruceton Memorial Park, Trezevant walking track by West Carroll Elementary School, walking track at the Atwood Park, walking track in Huntingdon by Baptist Memorial Carroll County Hospital and along University Drive in McKenzie, with plans to set one up at the Clarksburg walking track. The mayors of each area were very supportive of this project as book walks promote literacy and fitness, and provides families with a healthy way to create memories.

Share the great news of completing the book walk by using #cclbookwalk and #healthycarrollcounty. Healthy Carroll County is a new Facebook page created by the Carroll County Health Council. Make sure to check the page to keep up with health related news and events for the Carroll County area.
