When it was spiritually darker than it had ever been and Jesus Christ was facing crucifixion and death on the cross, He said, “I am going to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2), for He knew that He, who is the ‘light of the world” (John 8:12), was looking not just at the present, future and all of our tomorrows, which looked dark and gloomy, but to eternity, and the cross on which He was crucified and the tomb where God raised Him from death into life assure us that He is the “hope of the world.
