Ruth M. Larkins

Ruth Muriel Joyner Larkins, 92, of Bruceton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, at Life Care Center of Bruceton. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 11, in the chapel of the Bruceton Funeral Home with Randy Shannon and Joe Abbott officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.

Mrs. Larkins was born on Dec. 30, 1928, in Bruceton, to the late Eddie Harald Joyner and Nona Rachel Barton Joyner. She graduated from Bruceton High School where she played basketball.

She married William Lloyd Larkins, of Bruceton on Aug. 17, 1946. She was a lifelong homemaker and active and beloved member of the Bruceton church of Christ, where she was known for her famous coconut cakes and beautiful crochet keepsakes. Her crochet reproduction of Leonardo DaVinci’s Last Supper hangs in the foyer at the Bruceton church of Christ.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Gordan, and three brothers, Robert Joyner, Harold Dean Joyner, and Barton Joyner.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Gary (Diana) Larkins, of Clarksville, and Terry (Debbie) Larkins, of Camden; two granddaughters: Lena (Daniel) Richardson, and Gillian (Stephen) Nicholson, four grandsons, Bryan (Heather) Larkins, Sam Larkins, Caleb Larkins, and Andrew Larkins; and five great-grandchildren, Monika Laszczkowski, Addisen Larkins, Emmalyn Richardson, Elizabeth Richardson, and Ella Rose Richardson.

Pallbearers who served were Ross Cole, Andrew Larkins, Caleb Larkins, Bryan Larkins, Sam Larkins, James Sloan, Harold Dean “Dizzy” Joyner, Jr. and Ben Bayless. Acapella singing was conducted by Lamar and Lou Nell Nichols, Joseph Nichols, and Geoffery Kee.
