Bruceton Mayor Bob Keeton had good news to report at the town\u2019s Sept. 13 board meeting. He announced that the ZLINE Co.,  located on Rowland Mill Road, would be expanding its operation in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company operates a distribution center there and is expanding by adding 105,000 square feet of space and an additional 15 employees, according to Mike Zuro, Chief Operations Officer. It will be adding returns and parts.The company also has a 160,000 square foot building in Milan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The company located in Bruceton in 2018 in the former HIS building. Approximately 70 jobs were created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Founded by Andy Zuro, ZLINE Kitchen and Bath is the industry leader in the manufacturing and distribution of range hoods and kitchen cooktops. It is a family owned company with its corporate headquarters located in Nevada and Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Bruceton facility deals with 250 parts every day,\u201d said Mike Zuro. \u201cThe company has a ton of new products coming out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe town is very appreciative of your company and excited about your expansion,\u201d said the mayor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike Zuro further revealed that the company plans to get bids for a splash pad for the town. The town will be responsible for managing it, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s a very generous offer,\u201d said Keeton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While speaking, Mike Zuro complimented the work force at ZLINE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey are the salt of the earth employees.\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the way of old business, several bids were awarded on various projects. A bid of $364,602 for a CDBG sewer improvement project was awarded to Quinn Construction. American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds were used for a bid for administration services that was awarded to Community Development Partners for $22,000. Bids for the Senior Citizen Center roof were rejected  and will be rebid for a flat roof<\/strong>. The masonary and painting<\/strong> of the Senior Citizen Center bid will not be done at this time until the roof problem is fixed..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In new business, a resolution was passed about the action of the 112th state General Assembly concerning the renaming of the Carroll County 1,000 Acre Recreational Lake (See separate story.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rules were suspended to deal with hiring new employees. Bruceton, as is other cities, is having difficulties in hiring and keeping employees.Aldermen agreed for the mayor to draw up a new ordinance that could relieve some of the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ordinance would allow new hires and existing employees to waive the health insurance plan and add the $700 per month to their paychecks.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In more new business:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Decided to wait about awarding a bid for a water line locator device. There wee no bids at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Approved an invoice for $35,572 from the Surplus Account to Ford Co. of Murfreesboro for a Ford F150 vehicle for the police department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Purchased bleachers for Little League games at a cost of $10,518.42 from ARPA funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Purchased benches for the walking track for $2,370 from ARPA funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Moved November board meeting from Nov. 8 to Nov. 7 due to it being election day on the 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other business, aldermen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Heard from citizen Jane Bannister who thanked the aldermen for putting up American flags in the park. She had appeared at last\u2019s month\u2019s meeting and made the request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Heard from newly elected Carroll County General Sessions Judge Michael King who thanked the board for selecting him to be the town\u2019s city attorney for 16 years. The city is in great shape, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Elected Beau Pemberton as the new city attorney after suspending the rules. He is the city attorney for Dresden, Henry, and Greenfield. He will be paid $150 an hour for his services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Were informed by alderman Jack Blocker that he had checked with the General Dollar store about the shortage of stock on the shelves. He said he had been assured  by the store management that it would be kept fully stocked.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
