Olean Edwards Blount, 101, of Westport, passed away on Sunday, May 23, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 26, in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home with Lynn Stapleton officiating. Burial followed in Jamison Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Blount was born September 18, 1919 in Carroll County. She was a home maker and wrote the Westport News for The Carroll County News Leader for thirty years. She was a member of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. She became a Christian at the age of fourteen at New Hope Baptist Church.
Along with her parents James Gerthel and Hattie Cary Edwards, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married December 29, 1938, John Roy Blount; one grandson, William Carter Ross; two sisters, Iola Shooter Corbin, and Clarice Feazel; three brother, Bill Edwards, Jessie Edwards and Jerry Edwards.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth \u201cLiz\u201d Blanks of Bartlett, and Brenda Clenney of Jackson, and one son, Johnny (Barbara) Blount of Westport. She also leaves six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
