Madelynn Ross of Huntingdon has joined the Weakley County Prevention Coalition as the part-time Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist with Melesa Lassiter BSN, RN ROPS in Region 6N of Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ross will be primarily working in Carroll and Benton Counties. She is originally from Jackson, but recently purchased a home in Huntingdon, to be closer to family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has one daughter, Heather Kee, who is the reading specialist at Huntingdon Primary School. Her son-in-law is Dr. Jonathan Kee, who was recently elected as the new Huntingdon Special School District\u2019s director of schools, from his position as principal of Huntingdon High School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ross formerly worked for A Mother\u2019s Love, a treatment program in Humboldt, that is designed to treat pregnant women with substance use disorder. She is a person with lived experience and recovery from a substance use disorder. She has made it her mission to help others who struggle with addiction issues. She is well connected in the recovery community in Carroll and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She will be training and equipping individuals, medical community, law enforcement, and first responders on the opioid epidemic and the use of Naloxone (Narcan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am truly grateful and excited for this opportunity,\u201d she said. \u201cI really hope I can make a difference in someone\u2019s life that is struggling.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naloxone is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of an opioid emergency such as a possible opioid overdose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
