Carl Perkins Center Cookie Kit Sale<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Carroll County Carl Perkins Center is spreading the joy! They have Carl\u2019s Cookie Kits for pre-order on sale. Order by December 14th<\/sup> and drive through pick-up date is December 19th<\/sup>! The kits will include homemade cookies by the Culinary Arts Program at the Carroll County Technical School, sprinkles and icing to decorate your cookies, a coloring book, candy, ornament craft, and other surprises. Don\u2019t forget to bring your letter to Santa when you pick-up! First kit is $25 and each additional one is $15. Bethel University 1,200 Seat Chape<\/strong>l<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new chapel is under construction on the McKenzie campus of Bethel University.  Walter Butler, president of Bethel University, said dirt work for construction is underway adjacent to the Vera Low Center. It will seat approximately 1,200 persons and have some removable seating to accommodate many uses for the facility with capacity for the entire on-campus student body. Construction time is anticipated at one year, said Butler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Bassmaster Economic Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce recently released figures related to the economic impact of the 6th Annual High School and Junior National Fishing Championship. The Chamber report revealed the tournament\u2019s economic impact to Carroll County was approximately $210,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cDuring the course of the tournament, we had 115 hotel room stays in Carroll County. This doesn\u2019t include people who stayed in private homes and Carroll County RV parks,\u201d said Brad Hurley, President of the Carroll County Chamber. \u201cWe had 54 teams from 28 different states fishing at the Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreational Lake.\u201d Each team is comprised of two anglers and one boat captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The Junior Tournament started fishing on Monday with the final weigh-in on Tuesday. The Juniors Teams were able to practice at the Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreational Lake on Saturday October 17 and Sunday October 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   \u201cThe Carroll County Chamber is pleased to be a part of this tourism initiative that brings visitors and dollars to Carroll County,\u201d said Hurley. \u201cThe economic impact of the tournament was felt at convenience stores, hotels, restaurants, etc. This tournament truly creates a positive economic impact all across the county.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The partnership between Bethel University, Villages of Paris and Henry County, TN Department of Tourism and the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is a great example of regional partnerships that work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The National Champions for the junior division were Turner Tharpe and Blake James from Rhea County, TN with a 2-day total of 8 pounds, 2 ounces. The two took home $2,500 in scholarship money. Second place winners, Logan Lopossa and Koby Sollars from Indiana took home $1,000 in scholarship prizes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
