A metal component manufacturer plans to expand operations at its plant in southwestern Henry County, bringing 23 new jobs to the area, according to a Tuesday announcement by the state.

Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced Profile Metal Forming plans to invest $2.5 million in capital to expand its operations in the Henry County portion of McKenzie and create 23 jobs by 2025.

To support this growth, the company will expand its operations at 370 Republic Drive off Highway 22 by nearly 7,000 square feet.

The expansion will house a new 1,000-ton press line to increase the company’s capabilities to meet new automotive market demands.

The additional space and press line will allow the company to grow with its current customer base as well as focus on vertical integration.

The expansion is expected to begin later this year and be completed in spring 2021.

Profile Metal Forming, which opened its McKenzie division in 1987, manufactures custom engineered stamped metal components and assemblies for the automotive, appliance, materials handling, telecommunications and construction industries, including stamping, welding, punching, roll forming and bending. The company is privately owned and headquartered in New Hampshire.

Norman French, chief financial officer for Profile Metal Forming, said the expansion would help to meet customer needs.

“The automotive industry is consolidating, and Profile’s customer base is reducing the number of suppliers that they partner with,” he said. “As a result, Profile’s $2.5 million investment in our Henry County facility will increase the plant’s capabilities and capacity and allow us to meet our customers’ needs.”

“Profile Metals has been an asset to Henry County … providing good paying jobs to our residents,” said Rob Goad, executive director of the Paris-Henry County Industrial Committee. “This expansion promises to add more than twenty new full time jobs and allow Profile to provide more services to its clients. Any time the Paris-Henry County Industrial Committee can assist our local companies’ growth, we all reap the benefits.”

“Job creation in rural communities remains a priority, especially during these unprecedented times,” Lee said. “I’d like to thank Profile Metal Forming for its continued expansion in Henry County and the confidence it has in the workforce of Tennessee.”

“Tennessee is home to over 900 automotive suppliers, and we are proud to see Profile Metal Forming expanding in Henry County,” Rolfe said. “I look forward to seeing how the company’s efforts for more vertical integration will pay off as it continues to grow its services.”

“This is great news for Henry County,” said Bruce Griffey, 75th District state representative. “I appreciate Profile Metal Forming for making this investment in our community with these new jobs. This commitment demonstrates that Henry County is open for business, and I thank our local leaders for their partnership in working to create new jobs for our citizens.”

John Stevens, state senator from the 24th Senatorial District, agreed.

“We thank Profile Metal Forming for its continued confidence in Henry County and our dedicated workforce and look forward to the company’s next chapter of growth here. Adding these new jobs will have a positive impact on our community. I also appreciate the work done by our local officials, Governor Lee, Commissioner Rolfe and the Department of Economic and Community Development in bringing new jobs and investment to our area. It is an honor to partner with them to protect our business friendly environment and to ensure we remain competitive to all companies looking to call us home.”
