It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away! This year has really gone by fast!

We were very busy during the month of October. On October 14th – October 17th a group of 47 senior citizens enjoyed a trip to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. We enjoyed a self guided tour of the Ark on the 15th. Everyone was amazed as we pulled up to see the magnificent ship that replicated the Ark that Noah built in Biblical days. It was amazing to see how they lived inside the Ark and took care of all the animals. On the 16th we went to the Creation Museum, home to over 140 Biblical exhibits. After leaving the Creation Museum we enjoyed a leisurely cruise down the Ohio River. On the 17th we departed for home.

Our Halloween Party/Band Night with the Trailblazers was held on Thursday, October 24th. The night began with a costume contest. Twelve of our seniors came dressed in their best Halloween attire and entered the contest. Winners were: Scariest Costume – Mary Bullington, Most Original Costume – Garry Korbel and Best All Around Costume – Linda Vestal. After the winners of the costume contest were announced we all enjoyed grilled hot dogs with all the trimmings and an evening of good music and dancing.

Veterans Day is Monday, November 11th. Our staff would like to say a very heartfelt thank you to all who have served as well as those that are serving today. We will honor our senior veterans on November 7th with a luncheon at Mallards Restaurant beginning at 11:30. Carroll County Veterans Service Officer, Tom O’Bryant will be speaking to the group with updated information on veterans services. The Office on Aging will be paying for the veteran’s lunch. If you wish you may bring a guest, however your guest will have to pay for their lunch. Please be sure you sign your guest up when you call in. Give us a call by no later than noon on November 6th if you plan to attend. This is absolutely the latest we can sign anyone up.

Our Thanksgiving add-a-dish luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 14th at 11:30. Since we always have a larger than usual crowd we are having the luncheon at the civic center. Our office will be providing chicken & dressing, ham, rolls and the drinks. Those attending will need to bring the side dishes and desserts. We are asking everyone to please sign up by Friday, November 8th just to give us a good estimate of how many tables to set up.
