McKenzie council members, in the Oct. 10 meeting, called for a study of the city\u2019s rates for turning the water off and on and for late payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe city needs to update the rates for late payments,\u201d said Mayor Jill Holland. \u201cWe want to make sure we are charging for out-of-town.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenn. Association of Utility Districts will conduct the study and will charge for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think we need to do the study to make sure we are charging the correct fees,\u201d said the mayor. \u201cI don\u2019t want the city to pull a figure out of the sky.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The late fees won\u2019t be refundable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The council approved the Condemnation Board\u2019s recommendation that Jessica Hightower\u2019s property at 75 Woodrow St. be torn down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople are calling about it because it\u2019s unsanitary,\u201d said Holland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city can remove all other condemned property without going to chancery court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was supposed to have been a bid opening for a generator installation, but no bids were submitted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
