William Wesley Walters

1931-2022

William Wesley Walters, 90, of the Vale Community passed away on Monday, February 28 at his residence. Funeral Service were held Thursday, March 3 at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Steve Whitworth officiating. Burial followed at the New Hope Cemetery.

Wesley was born October 28, 1931, in Henry County, to the late Raymond Walters and to the late Bertha Hastings Walters. He worked at HIS clothing for over 40 years, spending most of those as a press operator before retiring as a supervisor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years. He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He married in 1951 to Virginia Sanders Walters, who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter; Sherrie Walters, two sons; Michael Walters and Timothy Walters, three brothers; Donnie Walters, Charles “Bud” Walters, and Billy Dwayne Walters.

Along with his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Rhonda (Danny) Hodge of Yuma, and Penny (Gary) McGee of Hollow Rock,  two sons; Roger Walters of Hollow Rock, and Tony (Pat) Walters of Huntsville, AL, two sisters; Jean (Bill) Wright of Indianapolis, IN, and Sue (Sonny) Maychovich of Toledo, OH, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Elbert Fields will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
