Weather puts pause on district action

As of press time Monday, the snow was coming down pretty hard, and things were looking pretty uncertain regarding the District 11A Basketball Tournament.

It was announced Monday that school had been called off through Wednesday due to the weather, so, according to TSSAA regulations, schools will not be able to host games until they re-open.

First-round boys games had been scheduled for Monday night, and girls semifinal games were slated for Tuesday night – but those have all been delayed. And whether or not the tournament will resume later this week depends on the weather.

First-round girls games were played on Saturday with the West Carroll Lady War Eagles defeating the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers 63-39 and the Big Sandy Lady Red Devils topping the Clarksburg Lady Rockets 54-42.

The Lady War Eagles and Lady Red Devils advance to the semifinals, though when those games will be played is anyone’s guess. The Lady Tigers and Lady Rockets have concluded their seasons.
