During the past few months, National Beta members from West Carroll Elementary School have been working hard to submit their entries for the National Beta Virtual Convention. In late July, they were able to celebrate that hard work when announced as winners of the following competitions:

•10th Place Club Trading Pin: Jack Robinson.

•National Champion 2-D Design: Zac Fowler, Jace Hammett, Jack Robinson.

•10th Place, Marketing & Communications: Piper DePriest, Aubrey Hammett, Alyssa Morris.

•3rd Place, Service Learning: Piper DePriest.

•5th Place, Visual Arts Sculpture: Brayden Arnold.

•10th Place, Living Literature: Leah Cherry, Sawyer Jackson, Gunner Martin, Brady Johnson.

•9th Place, 4th Grade Math: Aubrey Hammett.

•6th Place, 4th Grade Social Studies: Carson Cooper.

•National Runner Up, 5th Grade Math: Jack Robinson.

West Carroll Elementary School Beta Club originally competed and received awards during their State Convention held in Nashville in November. Their victories at the state level provided an opportunity to compete at the national level.

The National Convention, originally planned to be held in Fort Worth, TX, was cancelled due to health and safety concerns stemming from the Coronavirus pandemic. However, over 12,000 Junior Beta (grades 4-8) and Senior Beta (grades 9-12) students were able to represent their schools in the first National Beta Virtual Convention.

Although students were unable to attend the National Convention in Fort Worth, all students eligible to compete at the National Convention celebrated at a Swimming Watch Party on July 17.

WCES Beta Club began in 2018 under sponsors Brittany Fowler, Beth Bridges, and Michelle Robinson. In addition to earning multiple state and national awards this year, WCES Beta Club earned multiple state awards during the 2018-2019 school year.
