The University of Tennessee Extension Service Carroll County will be offering the UT Master Row Crop Producer Course Monday February 22nd and Friday February 26th from 8:30 am till 4:30 pm each day. The course will be held at the Exhibit Building at the Carroll County Fairgrounds. Participants who attend both days will meet the qualifications for 50% cost share reimbursement up to the maximum allowed under the 2020-2021 TAEP Row Crop Solutions grant if they were awarded a grant.

Topics will cover weed control, cotton, corn, soybeans and wheat production, disease management, insect control, variety selection, irrigation, soil fertility, crop budgets, farm equipment, succession planning, and the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. Dicamba recertification will also be held.

Farm family members are urged to attend the afternoon of Monday, February 22nd as Iris Cui, Farm Manage Specialist with the University of Tennessee will speak on Succession Planning from 12:30-1:30 pm. This is an important topic as it assist farmers  in communicating the financial and operations aspect of their family’s farming enterprise to family members. If the farmer becomes incapacitated or dies, the family may not know even the basics of the farming operation such as where grain is stored, where all the fields are, what loans and leases the farmer entered in and when payments are due.
