Two Carroll County School Districts – Huntingdon and West Carroll delay openings until Aug. 17

Two of the five special school districts in Carroll County as of Thursday afternoon have put off the original school opening day until Aug. 17. All Carroll County schools were to have started Aug. 4.

West Carroll and Huntingdon Special School Districts have chosen to delay school openings. Other school districts in Carroll County include: McKenzie, South Carroll and Hollow Rock – Bruceton who plan to start Aug. 4 as originally planned as of now.

West Carroll Special School District Board of Education made the decision at the close of their special called meeting Tuesday.

Huntingdon Special School District director of schools Pat Dillahunty released the following statement Thursday: “Due to increase in the virus spread in our local community, the first half day of school for Huntingdon will be August 17. All Open Houses previously scheduled for tonight (Thursday) have been cancelled. We will continue to monitor the virus spread in our community and make changes as necessary. Please visit the district website and Facebook page for updates. If you have any questions, please direct them to the building principal.
