Troy Smothers, 94, of Bruceton passed away Saturday, January 29 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Huntingdon. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 31 at Bruceton First Baptist Church with Mark Carrigan officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery.
Mr. Smothers was born on March 21, 1927, in Camden to the late Albert H. Smothers and Mary Emma Smothers. He was a retired salesman for Midway Nissan in Paris and a member of Huntingdon First United Methodist Church. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife; Mary Jo Elmore Smothers, a grandson; Brett Blakenship, a great granddaughter; Madison Blakenship, three sisters; Lucille Brewer, Odelle Cunningham, and Ruth Svoboda, also five brothers; Leon Smothers, Lloyd Smothers, Dennis Smothers, Dallas Smothers, and Bobby Smothers.
He was survived by one daughter; Kathy (Joe T.) Wood of Lexington, one son; Keith (Janie) Smothers of Bruceton, four grandchildren; Bart (Rachel) Blakenship, Weston Wood, Jessica (Luke) Foster, Robin Hart and eight great grandchildren; Hope Blakenship, Belle Blakenship, Bentley Blakenship, Jude Blakenship, Haden Mitchell, Abby Quinn, Sawyer Hart, and Trace Foster.
Pallbearers who served were Sammy Smothers, Larry Smothers, Luke Foster, Joel Edwards, Micah Markham, and Trevor Foster. Honorary pallbearers were Freeman Cole, Lynn Cole, Rick Lowe, Clay Barcroft, Jeff Smothers, Roger Smothers, Clark Smothers, Mike Smothers, James “Mayo” Hampton, Paul Ward, and Darrell Smothers.
