Sleep is an issue, never enough

Does anybody besides me have a problem with getting enough sleep? Four hours is a minimum and six hours is a good night’s rest for me. I have been doing this for years. It all started when Ray went to work at 1 a.m. I stayed up until after he left for work.

When he retired, we just continued to stay up late.

But as I understand it, not getting enough sleep is certainly not good for you and can have an adverse effect on your health.

I have stayed up until 3 a.m. in the morning on Tuesdays’ writing.  But that has slowed down since the COVID 19 started.

Sleep plays an important role in how your immune system performs, I understand.

Especially in winter months, it gives you a better fighting chance against the cold or flu.

According to research, if you don’t get enough zzzz’s your body makes fewer cytokines, a type of protein that targets infection and inflammation, effectively creating an immune response. These cytokines are produced and released during sleep. So, if you aren’t sleeping, you’re missing out.

It is recommended to get eight hours of sleep to staying healthy. Sleep is also said to help with other issues including heart disease, diabetes and obesity.

Naps are said to be the next best thing. A nap is said to help decrease stress and offset the negative effects that sleep deprivation has on the immune system.

Since good sleep is very important to your health and immune system, I’m am going to try my dead level best to do better with getting more sleep.

However, as you know old habits are hard to break!
