Sally Elizabeth Miner 1951-2020

On Saturday, March 21,
Sally Elizabeth Miner of
Camden, met her Lord and
savior Jesus Christ at the
age of 68. Sally was born
on Sept. 24, 1951 in
Kalamazoo, Mich. to
George and Beatrice
(Glosson) Underwood.
Growing up with an
enlisted Army father, Sally
learned her love of travel
early. She traveled all
around Europe and lived in
Germany, Paris and Italy
as a young adult. She
continued to travel once
back in the U.S. living in
Tennessee, Michigan,
Illinois, Kansas,
California, Massachusetts,
and Florida before settling
in the God blessed state of
Texas.
Once in Texas she worked
for Lake Travis ISD in
various roles within the
transportation department
for approximately 16 years
before starting and owning
a day care. For years she
protected, taught and loved
on all the kiddos and
parents who entrusted her
with their care. Sally was
blessed to have and raised
two children of her own:
daughter, Trilby Layne
Odle and son, Derek
Steven Sherman.
Sally loved the outdoors
including camping and
fishing with her husband

John. She gardened,
planted trees, flowers and
plants. She always
maintained her acre of land
to pristine condition
herself and enjoyed the
sunshine. She loved all
animals, even the strays.
She enjoyed working hard
and taking walks. Sally
made a lasting impression
on everyone who knew
her. She was a strong
independent woman filled
with positivity and
encouragement. Sally was
selfless when it came to
others. Even while going
through years of chemo
treatments she cared for
and encouraged all she
encountered. Office staff,
nurses and doctors all
knew Sally and remarked
about how she cared for
them as much (if not more)
than their care for her.
Sally is preceded in death
by her father, George,
mother, Beatrice, husband,
John, and sisters, Georgia
and Londa. She is
survived by her children,
Trilby (Christy) and Derek
(Ember); her siblings
Ralph, Margaret and
George; grandchildren
Leslie, Corbin and Bryson;
great grandchildren Nathan
and Trenton; several
cousins, nieces, nephews
and lifelong friends.
Due to the current
pandemic and respect for
our government official
guidelines, Sally’s

celebration of life will be
postponed until we can
gather together and honor
her properly.
