Robertson Estate makes charitable bequests

Doug and Anna Robertson

Longtime residents of Bruceton, Doug and Anna Robertson, had big hearts. Doug served in the military for 26 years and worked at the Post Office until he retired. Anna was a secretary for over 50 years.

Doug Robertson departed this life on September 7, 2014, and Anna passed away on August 22, 2021. Under Anna’s Last Will and Testament, she made bequests of $110,000 to various charities and trust for the benefit of the children of Hollow Rock Bruceton Central School System and medical facilities treating childhood illnesses.

Under her Will, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will receive a bequest of  $15,000. St. Jude’s was founded by entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962 on the promise that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” St. Jude’s is a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases, particularly leukemia and other cancers. Patients are not charged for their care.

A bequest of $10,000 was made to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Missouri. Shriners Hospital for Children is a network of 22 non-profit medical facilities across North America. Children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family centered environment, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.

Bequests were also made that directly benefit children of the Hollow Rock Bruceton Central Special School District. A gift of $25,000 was left to the Central Quarterback Club to be used specifically for the football program. The Doug and Anna Robertson Scholarship Trust was gifted $50,000 to provide $1,000 scholarships for a male and a female each year. The Anna Robertson Charitable Trust was left $10,000 to provide shoes and coats for children in need.
