Robert and Jean Barnhart: A Life Remembered

Robert, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 89 on March 16, 2023. Born on September 16, 1933, to Garvin and Ima Barnhart of Huntingdon. Robert dedicated 28 years of his life to Norandal Aluminum before retiring in 2000. His work ethic, kindness and sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. Robert’s love for family and friends was unwavering, and  he always had a smile and a good joke to share.

Jean, a kind, loving and generous mom, sister, daughter, joined Robert in eternal rest at the age of 86 on February 04, 2024. Born on August 19, 1937, to John and Esther Sanders. Jean dedicated 15 years to West Tennessee Home Health Care and was the “boss of Robert”. Jean’s passions other than family, included sewing and gardening.

Robert and Jean were inseparable. They met in their hometown of Huntingdon and married on September 4, 1955. Their love story spanned 68 beautiful years. Filled with laughter, shared dreams and countless memories. Their partnership extended beyond marriage, as they navigated life’s joys and challenges side by side. They raised a wonderful daughter, Pam (Steve) Henry and were blessed with two amazing grandchildren, Alexis (Josh) Smith and Cole Henry.

In addition to their immediate family, Jean is survived by her two brothers, Dwight Sanders and Samuel Sanders. Their bond as siblings was unbreakable, and they shared a lifetime of joy and memories. A burial service will be held at Long Rock Methodist Church on Friday, May 24, at 3:00 p.m. We will celebrate the lives of Robert and Jean Barnhart, whose legacy of love, laughter and kindness will forever echo in our hearts. May their souls rest in peace and may their memories continue to inspire us.
