Rep. Halford earns NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award

The Tennessee office of National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the state’s leading small business advocacy organization, presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business award to state Rep. Curtis Halford (District 79) recently.

The Guardian of Small Business award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business. The NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, an advisory board comprised of NFIB members, voted to present the award to the legislator for his outstanding leadership on small-business issues.

“Curtis Halford has an exceptional record supporting small business on crucial environmental, tax, labor, tort and regulatory reforms,” NFIB State Director Jim Brown said. “Notably, he has been a tireless advocate for sensible environmental regulations as chair of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee.

“It’s a real honor to receive NFIB’s Guardian of Small Business award,” Halford said. “Small businesses are not only the backbone of my district but also essential drivers of our state economy.

Halford chairs the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee. He is a member of the State, Government Operations, and Calendar & Rules committees. Additionally, he serves on the Agriculture & Natural Resources and Department & Agencies subcommittees, as well as the Commerce, Labor, Transportation and Agriculture Subcommittee of the Joint Government Operations Committee.
