Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) has named State Representative Curtis Halford (R-Dyer) Chairman of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee.

The 16-person committee will be responsible for all laws pertaining to energy, forestry, natural resources, conservation, game and fish, as well as mines and minerals. Additionally, members will oversee all environmental-related matters, parks and recreation, public lands, public and geological surveys, watershed districts, soil conservation issues, flood and drainage projects, military parks, battlefields, and tourism.

“Rep. Halford is a leader in our General Assembly, and he continues answering the call to effectively serve his constituents and his community,” said Speaker Sexton. “His knowledge and expertise on all matters related to agriculture and natural resources will make this distinguished committee successful in its work.”

“It is an incredible honor to be named Chairman of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee by Speaker Sexton,” said Chairman Halford.  “My colleagues and I will continue to address the complex issues related to these important industries, and we will work to preserve our natural resources and tackle environmental issues for the benefit our current and future generations.”
