The announcement of the employment of Porsche McClerking as the new Huntingdon High School principal was made Thursday at the 7 a.m. Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education meeting.
McClerking is currently the Huntingdon High School’s boy’s basketball coach and biology II teacher. He will continue his coaching duties.
“I’m truly honored that Dr. Kee has chosen me to lead and follow in his footsteps at Huntingdon High School,” said McClerking in a written statement. “Dr. Kee has laid an incredible foundation that I pray to build on and take to new heights. I am grateful and look forward to working with one of the best staffs around.”
He is a 2007 graduate of Clarksburg High School. He received a B.S. degree in Education with a major in K-6 education from the University of Tennessee at Martin that he attended from 2007-2012. He has a Master of Arts in Education degree from Bethel University that he attained in 2014.
From 2012-2014 he taught fifth grade social studies and coached girl’s middle school basketball at Huntingdon Middle School.
From 2014 – 2018 McClerking was a member of the Clarksburg School staff. He taught fifth and sixth grade social studies, and sixth grade science, was head middle school girl’s basketball for three years and was high school girl’s basketball coach from 2014-2018.
During his tenure at Clarksburg, he served as assistant principal for two years and principal for one year.
From 2018-2019 he taught sixth grade science and sixth grade social studies at Dyersburg Middle School. He also served as head middle school girl’s coach and assistant high school girl’s coach.
During the Thursday morning school board meeting he called his recent selection as principal his dream job.
His wife’s name is Brigitte and they have two children, Reese, 5, and Jhontae Mac, 2.
