Officers, friends gather for prayer service for Crossno

Bruceton Police officer Rick Crossno is hospitalized in Bowling Green, Ky. where he is being treated for COVID-19.

He was flown to the facility over the weekend of Sept. 5 and is currently on a vent.

According to a Monday morning report from a Bruceton City Hall official, he seemed to be slightly better as of Friday.

In another report that came from the Huntingdon Police Department on Monday was that he was breathing partially on his own now.

A special prayer service was held for him last week.

The southeast corner of the courthouse lawn on the morning of Sept. 7 was filled with police officers and friends who gathered in a community prayer service for him.

He had been sick with COVID for about a month, but was being treated at home, according to reports.

He is currently serving as assistant police chief of the Bruceton Police Department.

Rev. Larry Depriest, pastor of Tate’s Pentecostal Church, led the prayer service in a fervent manner, kneeling at the foot of the flagpole while he raised both hands toward heaven. A flag was signed by persons present that will be sent to him.

Huntingdon police officer Angie Barker organized the prayer session. She said her son, Zachery Barker, served as a working partner with Crossno when he was a police officer in Huntingdon and would have been there                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            if it hadn’t been for his deployment. Zachery is with the Army National Guard Reserves serving at the Mexican Border.
