In an early morning meeting Friday, the Huntingdon Town Council met to declare a vacancy in the Town Council. The vacancy occurred when council member Vice Mayor Nina Smothers was sworn in as mayor following the death of Mayor Dale Kelley.
Lori Nolen was nominated by council member Charles Hodges who made the motion that was seconded by council member Kelly Eubanks. The motion was unanimously passed.
Council member John Sanders was elected as vice mayor.
