At press time the Huntingdon Mustangs had one game left but have finished their district schedule ahead of the district tournament that begins this Thursday in Huntingdon.

The Mustangs are 4-18 for the season after winning over Lexington 2-1 on Wednesday and dropping a non-district contest to Trenton on Thursday 5-1. The Mustangs will be the five seed in the district tournament and will square off against Union City on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. The winner of that game will play Milan the one seed Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the loser will play against the Gibson County-Westview loser Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The tournament will conclude Tuesday and all games will be played at Mustang Field in Huntingdon.

In the two games the Mustangs played last week, they only managed seven hits over the two games but got a strong pitching performance from senior Blake Reeves on Wednesday night as the Mustangs defeated Lexington 2-1. Reeves went six innings, allowing four hits, three strikeouts and one walk, but he didn’t allow a single run over his six innings of work. Reeves also drove in the Mustangs’ first run of the game in the third inning as he singled, scoring Ashton Hutcherson.

Cade Wood was 1-2 and scored a run in the sixth on a Gray Eubanks single. Blane Fields added a double for the Mustangs in the win.

The Mustangs played well the next night against Trenton, but a Jett McAlister two-run home run provided the spark for a Trenton win. The Mustangs only managed three hits for the game.

Reeves had one of the three hits, Easton Byars singled, and Graham Bartholomew singled. Eubanks walked twice and scored the only Mustang run for the game. Byars started on the mound and took the loss.
