The Huntingdon Mustang baseball team began their season playing on the road in three different venues as a part of the Carl Perkins Classic, and the Mustangs finished the week winning one of three games to start the season 1-3.

The Mustangs scored nine runs in the fifth inning on Monday at Gibson County as they faced the Lake County Falcons, and the nine-run outburst led to a 12-2 win.

A group of four Mustang seniors led the offensive onslaught as Cade Wood went 3-3 from the lead-off spot and scored three runs while driving in two. Blake Reeves was 2-3 and drove in two, Hunter Britt had three hits and drove in a run, and Blane Fields was 3-3, scored twice and drove in a run. Gray Eubanks was 2-5 and Easton Byars had a two-run double in the win. Reeves was the winning pitcher, going five innings, allowing four hits, and striking out 10.

The Mustang bats went silent in their next two games as they fell to Scotts Hill in Milan 14-1 and lost in Medina to South Gibson 10-0.
