The Huntingdon Mustangs playing somewhat shorthanded as they await the football players to join the team have started the season 3-0. The Mustangs played twice since their opening season win over Carroll Academy, winning over Greenfield on the road 71-66 and at Dresden 66-57. The Fillies played four times since their opening win against Carroll Academy and wo three of those games. The Fillies defeated Obion County 76-43, Greenfield 74-43, lost to McKenzie 82-58 and defeated Dresden 72-47.
In the Mustangs win over Greenfield they were led in scoring by EJ Lewis with 22, Ethan Ramsey 16, Caleb Ezell 12, and Tycen Willis with 10. Greenfield was led by Barkley Biggs with 28 and Matt Scates 15. In the Mustangs win over Dresden, Ramsey led the way with 22, Lewis 15, Willis 10, and Ezell scored 9. Dresden was led by Raymond Johnson with 15.
The Fillies played Obion County on a Saturday at McKenzie and were led in scoring by Lilly Kee with 20, Delaney Byars 13, Sydney Anderson 10. Obion County was led by Alayna Fuzzell with 13. The Fillies played a second game that same day on the road in Greenfield and were led in scoring by Sophie Singleton with 27, Kee 17, and Anderson with 8.
The Fillies fell to the defending state champions McKenzie on the road in a girl’s game only as McKenzie boys had to many still playing football and were led in scoring in the loss by Kee with 26, Lia Fuller 12, and Anderson with 8. The Fillies defeated a Dresden team that made the state tournament last year on the road and were led in scoring by Kee with 22, Byars 13, Josey Stokes 10, And Anderson and Annabelle Singleton scored 8.
