Missing McKenzie Man Found Deceased in Pond

A McKenzie man, who was reported missing on May 3, was found deceased May 7 in a pond on Renfroe Road out from Huntingdon.

Maurice Falls, 50, was reported missing by his sister the day after he failed to return to his residence at 31 St. John Cemetery Lane off U.S. Highway 79.

Carroll County Sheriff Andy Dickson said Falls’ sister said he left on Saturday going to Milan to purchase a cell phone.

“The Sheriff’s Department sent out a Bolo to surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for him in a light blue Ford Mustang,” said Dickson. “We checked with Verizon in McKenzie and Milan, but he hadn’t been there.”

Roadways were checked and a T.H.P. helicopter searched to no avail for Falls.

On May 7 the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a landowner on Renfroe Road who noticed a a car near a wooded area that was stuck in the mud.

After checking the area, Falls’ body was discovered in the pond. Carroll County Rescue Squad members removed the body which was sent for an autopsy.

The sheriff said although positive identification of the body had not been made, it was felt sure that it was Falls.

The sheriff disclosed there was no physical trauma to the body.
