Mildred M. Walls

Mildred Marie Walls, 93, passed away on Monday, July 12, in Knoxville. Graveside services were held Thursday, July 15 at Carroll Memorial Gardens. Chase Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.

Mrs. Walls was born September 29, 1927, in Carroll County to the late George Everett and Florence Wiles Eskew. She attended the old Buxter School and Clarksburg High School. She was a nurse’s aide at the old Carroll County General Hospital and Baptist Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1991. She was a faithful member of the West Knoxville Church of Christ.

She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, George Arthur Eskew, Darrell Lynn Eskew, Virgie Lou McMinn, Robert Wayne Eskew, Gaylon Monroe Eskew, Betty Joyce Crider, Ivy Jane Davis Callison, and Juston Kenneth Eskew.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Dwayne Carlton Walls; two sons, Dwayne (Paula) Walls of Huntingdon, Dwight (Linda) Walls of Plainview, TX, and one daughter, Starr (Shawn) Leehans of Knoxville; four grandchildren, Katherine Hawkins (Daryl) of Huntingdon, Virginia (Dane) Bailey of Marysville, WA, Lily Stevens and Dexter Stevens of Knoxville; and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers who served were Dwayne Walls, Dwight Walls, Dennis Simpson, Danny Davis, Dane Bailey, and Daryl Hawkins.
