Mid-Way Materials now Mid-Way Concrete Products

The business known as Mid-Way Materials of Camden and McKenzie opened their doors Sept. 14 under new ownership. The company will now operate under the name Mid-Way Concrete Products.

Mid-Way has been locally owned by the Dobson family, Larry, Tyanna, and Judy, since 1968. It was first opened under the name Dobson Brothers.

“My Dad, Butch, was one of the first in this area to develop and use modern concrete innovations when he started Mid-Way in the 60’s,” Larry commented. “We’ve been family-owned ever since.”

Now, a new family is being handed the reigns of Mid-Way. The Pearcy family owns Tri-County Concrete of Parsons. Brothers John and Jeremy “Moe” Pearcy, along with John’s son Jake Pearcy, have been looking for ways to expand the company.

Jake, who will be overseeing the lots in both Camden and McKenzie, explained, “The family business has been looking to grow and Mid-Way was a good expansion opportunity for us. With the addition of the Camden and McKenzie locations we will be able to better serve our customers. We look forward to modernizing the plants as we continue to expand our reach.”

With the addition of the Camden and McKenzie locations, the Pearcy family will now be able to service the concrete needs of Benton, Carroll, Decatur, Gibson, Hardin, Henderson, Henry, Humphreys, Perry, Wayne, and Weakley counties.

“The Pearcys have a good company with a good reputation,” Larry said. “We couldn’t ask for a better family to take this on and are so blessed for the opportunity for the business to continue with them.”

Employees will remain the same at both Camden and McKenzie locations and the company expects a smooth transition. Larry will stay on for a period of time with the new company. As they continue to look for ways to better serve their customers, the Pearcys will be advancing and adding more modern practices at Mid-Way, including front discharge mixers.

“It has been a family dream to grow, expand, and build our family company, since my grand dad first started in this business,” Jake said. “We are excited for the future and look forward to continuing to build on these dreams.”
