Michael Preston Young, 26, of Portland, Ore., formally of Bruceton, passed away Tuesday, April 27, in Portland, Ore. Funeral services were held May 2, in the chapel of Bruceton Funeral Home with Brett Mebane officiating. Burial followed at Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock.
Michael was born Jan. 6, 1995, in Jackson to Dan Young and Tonya Stone Young Hardin. He attended and graduated from Hollow-Rock Bruceton Special School District and continued his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He worked for Carey Counseling Herrington Place in Camden before moving to Portland in July of 2019. In Oregon, he worked for Housing Independence.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Carolyn Young.
He is survived by his mother, Tonya (Ronnie) Hardin of Camden; his father, Dan (Jenna) Young of Medina; one sister, Autumn (Jonathon) Lancaster of Collierville; four brothers, Kordell Young of Knoxville, Mac Hooten, Bryce Hooten, and Jaxon Young, all of Medina; one niece, Charlotte Lancaster; two uncles, Mitchell (Billie) Young, and Buddy (Marilyn) Stone; five aunts, Dana (Dizzy) Joyner, Leigh (Phil) David, Denise Brotherton, Sonya Leonard, and Lee (Brandon) Pipkin; several cousins; and his girlfriend, Grace Leitner of Beaverton, Ore.
Pallbearers who served were Wyatt Cason, Dalton Sellers, Jonathan Lancaster, Dewayne Ervin, Hunter Pickler, and Troy Walker.
